SWAT Sniper Ends Florida Bank Hostage Crisis: Suspect Shot and Killed
In Fort Myers, Florida, a hostage situation at a Bank of America ended with the suspect, identified as Sterling Ramon Alavache, being shot and killed by a SWAT sniper.
Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno described the incident as “chaotic” and revealed that the armed suspect, wielding a knife and claiming to have a bomb, took two hostages.
Despite deploying SWAT, drones, and a robotic dog, negotiations took a dangerous turn when the suspect physically threatened one hostage. Fearing for her life, a SWAT sniper intervened, fatally shooting the suspect.
Both hostages emerged unharmed, and the sniper is on administrative leave. The investigation is ongoing, and details about the victims and negotiation duration remain undisclosed.
